When I was a kid I hated my last name and dreamed of growing up and getting married so I could change it. I would pray for a person with a simple and common last name, preferably one with fewer letters. My late father taught me to be proud of this name that belongs to so few people in the world. He made sure that we understood who is parents were, what they had to do to be successful in this country and most importantly, he taught us to correct people every time until they got the pronunciation DOWN.
